Surinder kumar, Vice President

Professor Surinder Kumar (b 1951) holds B.Sc. Hons. (Physics) and M.A. Economics from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was Ford Foundation Post Doctoral Visiting Scholar to State University of New Jersey, Rutgers and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, California, U.S.A. He has held a number of academic and administrative posts. During the 37 years of professional career in the university system, he held the position of Professor and Head, Department of Economics; Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Dean, Academic Affairs; and Advisor, Foreign Students at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (Haryana). He was holding the position of RBI Chair Professor, at the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development, Chandigarh before joining the present assignment. He has widely published in scholarly journals and guided 15 Ph.D. students and a large number of M.Phil. students. He is a member of a large number of professional associations, and academic and research committees of various universities in India. He specialises in Public Economics, Energy Economics and Political Economy of Development.
