Indian Journal of Labour Economics, being published since 1957, is a prestigious organ of the Indian Society of Labour Economics. Now in its 53rd year, the Journal aims at promoting scientific studies in labour economics, industrial relations and related fields.
It provides a forum for established and upcoming economists and development practitioners to delve on issues concerning the sector through research articles, notes, reviews, commentaries and statistical information on issues relevant to India and other developing countries.
The journal in indexed and abstracted in COREJ, LABORDOC, EconLit, e-JEL and JEL of the American Economic Association, GEOBASE : Human Geography and International Development Abstracts.
From its inception till 1978, it was edited by Dr. V. B. Singh and thereafter by Dr. R. S. Mathur till 1985. Subsequently, Prof. L. K. Deshpande took over the rein. From 1991 onwards, it is being edited by Prof. Alakh N. Sharma, also the Director of the Institute for Human Development
